Adjacent to Brighton Railway Station, this site was purchased in September 2009. Planning consent was granted for 147 apartments, 94 bed hotel, 25,000 sq ft of office accommodation, 800 sq ft of retail unit and a new public square with lift and stair access to the station. This development was the final part of the 28 acre New England Square regeneration area giving a much needed additional access to Brighton Station.
Working closely with the Local Authority, Site J incorporates best practice features in sustainability. Such features include; brown roofs, photo voltaic panels and rain water harvesting. The buildings thermal mass and sustainable features all help to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 and BREEAM Excellent for the offices.
The site has been successfully developed by Hyde Housing Group and a commercial operator.
